Hi, I’m Geanna.
I didn’t have a great relationship with food growing up (anyone else a member of the “clean your plate” club?). Honestly, it wasn’t until I went to grad school to become a registered dietitian that I finally healed that relationship. It was there that I learned about Health at Every Size® (HAES) and intuitive eating, and I’ve never looked back. These meaningful concepts serve as a blueprint for my personal life and professional career.
I approach nutritional counseling with compassion and kindness and I strive to provide equitable and unbiased treatment to every single client, regardless of size, ethnicity, gender expression, or background. I believe YOU are the expert of YOU and it is my privilege to help guide you in understanding and respecting your body to get to a point where food, eating, and movement are simple and enjoyable once again.
My grad school program specialized in integrative nutrition (or put another way: seeing folks as an interconnected “whole body” instead of just focusing on the one part that’s bothering them) and that training has informed how I work. I utilize these skills to see adults (age 18+) dealing with challenging GI issues (including MCAS, SIBO, IBD, and more), insulin resistance, and/or a complicated relationship with food and body.
I know many people come to me wanting weight loss. Due to the constant and never-ending messaging we get from a young age, we’ve learned that our bodies aren’t good enough and that we should always be seeking change. Unfortunately, there are no evidence-based strategies that show lasting, long-term weight loss without regain; therefore, I focus on behaviors we CAN improve on to help you meet the personal and health-related goals you have.
In my spare time, I like to run, garden, bullet journal, be on or near water, and watch vampire TV shows (and listen to podcasts about them!).
